Travel vaccines and other vaccines
If you’re a SiO student or work at a faculty at UiO, you can use our vaccination program. Remember that some vaccines need to be administered well in advance of departure date. Vaccination takes place at our health center at Blindern.
Influenza vaccine
If you only want the influenza vaccine and have a general practitioner at SiO, you can come to the drop-in clinic at Blindern Monday to Friday from 08:15 to 11:00 and from 12:00 to 14:45.

Good hygiene Remember good hand hygiene on your trip, and bring hand sanitizer.

Be careful with food and drink“Boil it, cook it, peel it, or forget it” to avoid food poisoning.

Bring a travel pharmacyRemember bandages, wound wash, motion sickness pills, diarrhea medicine, mosquito repellent, condoms, and sunscreen with a high SPF.

Watch out for mosquitosIn tropical areas, illnesses can be transmitted via mosquito bites, so it’s important to protect yourself well. Use a mosquito net that’s treated with Permetin at night. Also check if you need malaria medication before you travel.

Remember travel insuranceIf you’re traveling to another EEA country, you also need to remember your European health card, in addition to travel insurance.

Are you pregnant or traveling with children?If you are pregnant or will be traveling with small children, you need to take some extra precautions. Talk with your primary care doctor or contact us for more information.
Booster vaccines
Not all vaccines you get through the childhood vaccination program give you protection for the rest of your life. It is therefore recommended to get a booster of some vaccines in your adult years.
